Timing, explained

How fast can you get funded? The realistic timeline.

Funds can reach your account in as little as 24 hours after approval. How quickly you get to approval depends mostly on the file you send. Here's every step, and what keeps each one moving.

The short answer

With InstaFunders, funds can be in your business bank account in as little as 24 hours after approval. Getting there takes six steps: application, underwriting, offer, contract, verification and stipulations, then funding. The biggest factor in how fast it goes is a complete file: a signed application, your last three months of bank statements plus month-to-date, every business account listed, and stipulations ready to send.

The merchant cash advance timeline, step by step

Every funder's process differs in the details, but a merchant cash advance generally moves through the same stages:

StageWhat happensWhat keeps it moving
1. ApplicationYou submit a signed, dated application and your bank statements.Sending everything at once, for every business account
2. UnderwritingAn underwriter reviews deposits, balances, existing advances and credit.Clear, complete statements; answering questions quickly
3. OfferYou receive the funded amount, purchased amount, payment and frequency.Knowing what you need and why
4. ContractYou review and sign the agreement and any state-required disclosure.Reading it promptly and asking questions early
5. Verification and stipulationsThe funder collects final documents and confirms the details.Having IDs and a voided check ready for every owner
6. FundingMoney is sent to your business bank account.Timing around banking days and cutoffs

1. Application

You fill out a short application, sign and date it, and attach your bank statements. At InstaFunders that means your last three months of business bank statements plus month-to-date, or four months for California businesses. Include statements for any and all associated businesses and business bank accounts. You can apply online or call 844-828-7986.

2. Underwriting

An underwriter studies your statements: how much comes in, how often, how your balances hold up, and what payments already go out. Credit is checked too. Our underwriters work to get to a responsible yes, which means asking questions when something on the statements isn't clear. The faster those questions are answered, the faster this stage ends.

3. Offer

If the deal fits, you receive an offer showing the funded amount, the purchased amount (your hard stop number), the payment and how often it's collected. Take the time to understand it; our guide to reading an MCA offer helps.

4. Contract

You review and sign the agreement. If your state requires a commercial financing disclosure, you'll receive that as well. See state disclosures.

5. Verification and stipulations

Before funding, the funder collects the final documents, called stipulations or "stips," and confirms the details of the deal. Funders commonly hold a short call with the owner to confirm the information and that the terms are understood.

6. Funding

Once everything is approved, funds are sent to your business bank account, in as little as 24 hours after approval. Transfers move on banking days, so weekends, bank holidays and transfer cutoff times can affect when the money appears.

What stipulations are required before funding?

InstaFunders asks for these before funding:

  • A driver's license for every owner
  • A voided check for every owner
  • A current accounts receivable (A/R) aging report and/or your most recent credit card processing statement

Gather these while your application is in underwriting. Waiting until after the offer to start looking for them is one of the most common reasons a deal that's approved quickly ends up funding days later.

What slows a merchant cash advance down?

  • Missing statements. A month left out, or no month-to-date activity, means underwriting can't finish.
  • Unlisted accounts. If statements show transfers to an account you didn't include, the underwriter has to ask for it, and the clock restarts.
  • Undisclosed advances. Existing advances show up as debits on your statements. Leaving them off the application raises questions that take time to resolve.
  • Late stipulations. A missing ID or voided check for one owner holds up the whole deal.
  • Unsigned or undated applications. These have to come back before anything else can happen.
  • Mismatched details. A business name, address or owner that doesn't match across documents needs to be explained.
  • Hard-to-read documents. Phone photos and screenshots instead of full statements from your bank.
  • Owners who are hard to reach. Verification can't happen without them.

How to get funded faster

  1. Check that your business fits the requirements before you apply.
  2. Download full PDF statements for every business account, covering the required months plus month-to-date.
  3. List every existing advance on the application.
  4. Sign and date the application.
  5. Have every owner's driver's license and voided check ready, along with your A/R aging report or latest processing statement.
  6. Keep your phone on and answer underwriting questions as soon as they're asked.

Do those six things and the timeline is mostly up to the banking system.

When speed isn't the most important thing

Speed is the main reason businesses choose a merchant cash advance, and it costs more than slower kinds of capital. If your need can wait several weeks and your business qualifies for bank credit, a bank or SBA loan will usually cost less. We compare them honestly in MCA vs. SBA loan. An advance is the right tool when timing matters: inventory before a busy season, payroll before a large receivable lands, or equipment that's down. If you have a weak credit history, see business funding with bad credit.

Frequently asked questions

How fast can I get a merchant cash advance?

With InstaFunders, funds can be in your business bank account in as little as 24 hours after approval. How quickly you reach approval depends mostly on sending a complete file: a signed application, all required statements for every business account, and stipulations ready.

When does the 24 hours start?

After approval. The time before that depends on underwriting your file, and the time after depends on signing, stipulations and verification being complete. Funds move on banking days, so weekends and holidays can affect timing.

What documents do I need to apply?

A signed and dated application and your last three months of business bank statements plus month-to-date (four months for California). Include every associated business and business bank account. Before funding, we also need stipulations such as each owner's driver's license and voided check.

What are stipulations on a merchant cash advance?

Stipulations, or "stips," are the documents a funder needs before it sends money. At InstaFunders they are a driver's license and voided check for all owners, and a current A/R aging report and/or your most recent credit card processing statement.

Why was my funding delayed after approval?

The most common reasons are missing stipulations, an owner who couldn't be reached for verification, details that didn't match across documents, or a bank holiday or transfer cutoff. Ask your funder exactly what's outstanding and send it in one go.

Ready when you are.

One short application, three months of bank statements and a real answer from a real underwriter. Funding from $10,000 to $2,500,000.
