A direct second position MCA funder, built for stacked files.

Second position and onward is our strong suit. Here's what our underwriters look for in a stacked file, how to package one so it gets a fast answer, and what declines it.

The short answer

InstaFunders is a direct MCA funder, and second position and onward is our strong suit; first position is case by case. We fund $10,000 to $2,500,000 with a max term of 10 months. A stacked file gets a fast answer when it shows every existing position, every associated account and a current MTD, and when the merchant's deposits clearly carry the combined payment load. Submit to instasubs@instafunders.com.

What we look for in a 2nd+ position file

On a stacked deal, the merchant's existing positions are the first thing underwriting maps. The question is whether the deposits carry all of the payments, ours included, through an ordinary slow week. We look at:

  • The full position map. Every current advance: funder, payment, daily or weekly, funded date and approximate balance. Underwriting reconciles this against the debits on the statements.
  • Deposit strength and consistency. $50,000+ in average monthly deposits with at least 5 deposits a month is the floor; steady months matter more than one big one.
  • Balances after the existing debits clear. An average of no more than 5 negative days a month, and an account that isn't running near zero every afternoon.
  • Direction of travel. Revenue holding or growing since the last position funded, not sliding.
  • True revenue. Transfers between the merchant's own accounts, loan proceeds and other advance fundings stripped out of the deposit count.
  • The basics: 12 months+ in business, a 500+ credit score, and an industry and state we fund.

How to package a stacked deal for a fast answer

Most delays on 2nd+ files come from the same few gaps. Close them before you send and the file moves.

  1. Signed and dated application, with the existing positions disclosed on it, not discovered later in the statements.
  2. The last three months of business bank statements plus MTD (four months for California). On a stacked file, the MTD is what shows the newest position and its payment.
  3. Every associated business and business bank account. If revenue or payments run through a second account, a file without it reads wrong.
  4. A position summary in the email body: funder, payment, frequency, funded date and balance for each, in one place.
  5. Context for anything unusual: a one-off large deposit, a seasonal dip, an account the merchant opened or closed.
  6. Stips ready to go: driver's license and voided check for all owners, and a current A/R aging and/or most recent processing statement, so approval turns into funding quickly.

Weekly positions. If all of the merchant's other positions are weekly, weekly is available with us. Note each position's frequency in your summary so the structure is right the first time.

What declines a second-position deal

  • Restrictions. Businesses located in Utah, New York and Connecticut, and the industries we don't fund: trucking and logistics, auto sales, nonprofit organizations, debt consolidation and credit repair, debt collection, cannabis, publicly traded companies and law firms.
  • Deposits that don't support another payment. Under the $50,000 average, fewer than 5 deposits a month, or a total that only gets there with transfers counted in.
  • Negative days. An average above 5 a month, or balances that show the existing positions are already straining the account.
  • A payment load with no room. When the existing debits already take most of what comes in, another position hurts the merchant. We'll say no rather than fund that.
  • Undisclosed positions or missing accounts. Debits on the statements that weren't on the app, or an associated account that turns up mid-review.
  • Very recent funding without the full picture. Merchants funded in the last 30 days are reviewed case by case; a file without the MTD showing that position can't be.

A decline isn't always the last word. Sometimes the answer is a smaller amount or a different payment structure, and your representative will tell you what would change it.

Why send stacked files to a direct funder

When you submit to InstaFunders, the file goes to our own underwriters, and the decision, contracts and funding come from us. Your partner representative is a single point of contact who knows your files. Pricing, buy rates and upsell are shared once your shop is set up; see the funding guidelines and the ISO and broker FAQ, or read more about partnering with InstaFunders.

Frequently asked questions

Is InstaFunders a direct funder for stacking deals?

Yes. InstaFunders is a direct MCA funder, and second position and onward is our strong suit. Files go to our own underwriters, and we fund $10,000 to $2,500,000 with a max term of 10 months. First position is considered case by case.

Do you fund third and fourth positions?

We fund second position and onward, so later positions can be considered. The deciding factor is whether the merchant's deposits and balances carry every payment together. The more positions on the file, the more room the statements need to show.

What's the fastest way to get a stacked file approved?

Send it complete: signed app, three months of statements plus MTD (four for California), every associated account, and a summary of each existing position with funder, payment, frequency and balance. Have stips ready so approval turns into funding quickly.

Will you fund a merchant who was just funded by another shop?

Merchants funded in the last 30 days are reviewed case by case. Include the MTD statement showing the new position and its payment, and list the funder and funded date in your submission.

Can a 2nd position be on weekly payments?

Yes, when all of the merchant's other positions are weekly. Otherwise the default is daily. Note each position's frequency on the submission.
